UTV's finally allowed on Washington State Roads!?!

As seen on a main street in Ellensburg, WA

Parked outside of the WellsFargo bank in Ellensburg just the other day.

I can't wait to get license plates for my UTV so my wife and I can drive it around town.

I thought for sure Washington State would never allow this.

I am shocked I didn't hear about the law changes before actually seeing one on the streets.

Major flashbacks to all the pics I have taken over the years when I was in a State other than Washington and saw OHV/UTV/ATV vehicles on the streets.

I hope this isn't a joke by some anti-OHV group?

It just seems to good to be true.

    This is news to me.

I was really impressed when I was in Wyoming this past summer. We rented ATVs in the Big Horns and they were all street licensed. That state is really ATV/UTV friendly.

Me too. I have been to many states and seen UTV's on the roads. I would have bet my UTV's that this would never happen in WA State... but I saw one (with license plates) on a main road in Ellensburg. I plan to ask for licence plates for my UTV ASAP!

Imagine all the fuel savings we will rack up using our UTV over our SUV!

Bad comment since the government will make less "taxes" on gasoline if we drove vehicles that got better than average MPG.

Back in the 80's we rode our dirt bikes to school in the summer and our snowmobiles in the winter.

Don't mention the snowmobiles to my kids as I have them convinced I walked to school bare foot in the winter. Up hills, both ways!!!

That is exactly what I want to know.

I already contacted someone that I know in my local govt. I hope to get a reply to my email in 48 hours or less.

My local govt connection was baffled and had no answers other than to "contact the DMV".

Anyone want to contact the DMV and ask what it takes to make this happen for our UTV's???

I didn't pay close enough attention to see if was burning gas or volts. I would never have guessed it was an electric UTV instead of a gas UTV

Either way... why is it OK to be on the road with an electric motor but not a gasoline motor with one of those?

In the past when I asked about driving one of these on the roads I was given reasons that had nothing to do with how it was propelled.

It's been like that in Idaho for a long time now.....More taxes and money for the state. More fun too!
