4 Wheeling Pine Mountain New Year 4x4 Snow Run - Jan 1 2009

Pine Mountain New Year 4x4 Snow Run
Report and photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

On Thursday January 1st, 2009 we meet up in Tampico for our New Years Run.
This year again BSLM let us come up to his private land on Pine Mountain at the Ahtanum State Forest.

We aired down at Nasty Creek Corrals.

With Roger in the lead with BSLM as co-pilot.

We were not far onto the private land when Roger had to air down even more to get through.

This picture was taken right before I got stuck in Roger's holes.

Test Dummy pulled my XJ out and got in front of me since his XJ is locked on both ends and taller off the ground.

We had to wait for Roger to plow through the snow drifts.

Test Dummy got stuck in one of the deep drifts and had to winch out.

I made it through with speed. Tiny got stuck in it.

Test Dummy got stuck in the next drift. Roger came back to see.

After talking with BSLM, Test Dummy aired down to 2 psi.

The Tampico boys dug Tiny's XJ out.

I think Test Dummy was able to drive out. He came back to pull my XJ through.

Then he pulled Tiny's XJ through the same area.

    Regrouping and playing around.

    Tiny letting more air out.

    Moving up the trail.

The next stop was at BSLM's cabin.

    On the trail again.

    Hercules drove off the trail.

Nevada pulled him through the deep snow.

    Moving again.

Hercules having a hard time making it up the climb. Trying it backwards.

Some of us that were up the hill circled back down to the group so we could go on a recovery mission.

We regrouped and headed down the mountain.
A lady's car was stuck some where down there.

Waiting on the others to make the last hill climb up.

We made it down to the car.

We got the car out and were on our way back up the mountain.

Nevada wondering how Ron (4wheelingplus.com) got into my XJ since he didn't fit in there well.

Nevada towing TJ40's rig up the hill.

    Regrouping.

The next area was a lot of fun.
I came very close to smacking a few trees with my 99 XJ as I crab walked along the hill side.
I could not make the turn up the hill so I had to spin the rear down hill so I could hit the climb straight on.
That work well. Will a few runs and RPMs we made it up. Here's Roger on the top.

The rest of the group took another route to the top.

    Blind-Pilot having fun.

    TJ40 winching up.

    Regrouping again.

As you can see, Ron (4wheelingplus.com) does not fit to well in my XJ.

    Heading out.

This was another great New Years Run thanks to all that came.

It was a great run, I had a good time. Special thanks to BSLM for letting us come up and play on his private land, it makes for a different experience.

I had a great time! i forgot my cam tho.
glad there rest of you got some good pics!

Nevada pulled him through the deep snow.

what this pic doesnt show is...ME being stuck. he was hooked to his sway bar so i didnt want to hit it TOO hard, and rip it of. so i eased into it. got myself into the DEEP stuff. and started putting somer power to it, once the strap was tight. well....suddenly, im not moving. i look down, and my drivers front tire ISNT turning.

UHOH! i tried reverse...the tire spun what the?? tried again, and nothing. so i turned the wheel a little, and can see the block of snow spinning, but the tire is stationary. i was a bit too low on pressure, and the wheel was spinning inside the tire! getting me thoroughly stuck. a quick winch out, using roger as an anchor(thanks!) put a bit more air in the tire, and was then able to finish pulling him out.

    Thanks!

Crazy thing is... most of those shots were taken from the passenger seat of Clay's XJ. My knee hurt so bad I couldn't jump in and out as much as I wanted to take all the shots I wanted to take.

Some of those pics are through his windshield and they turned out decent.

I took several videos on this run. Ron asked if I could upload them onto the forum. Here's my first attempt. If it works, I'll post a few more. This one shows me trying to maneuver in the driveway at the cabin, surprising Ron in the process...

O.K. The video upload worked. So, here's a couple more. Both feature Nevada at his best. One shows his rim spinning on the tire when helping Tiny out. The other is when he towed me up a hill. Thanks!

Hercules was the one Nevada helped out. BlindPilot also had made the mistake. Both rigs do look close in color. Tiny's is cream with gold and Hercules is white with wood gain.

Cool clips. Thanks for posting them Your brother seem to be a real fun guy to hang out with.

Well, after a few more runs I'll get everyone straight. My brother had a great time, laughed the whole time. He's never been on a snow run before.

Lots of great pics posted. Had a good time!

I think your brother was nervous? I know I laugh a lot on snow runs that make me nervous, and sometimes I acted a little drunk too without drinking any alcohol
